The credit for the ESTÜ401 Professional Transition to Career course is 2 ECTS (1+1). It is offered as an elective course in the IV semester for associate degree students and the VIII semester for undergraduate students. The course is offered in each academic unit as a group, with a student capacity limited to 25 students. The course content is determined in coordination with the Student Dean’s Office and other academic units, following the framework created by the Rules and Regulations. The course aims to equip students with the necessary competencies for their career development and enhance their existing skills.
The course focuses on preparing students who are about to graduate and transition to professional life by:
- Introducing them to various sectors,
- Helping them understand the dynamics and work processes of different industries,
- Raising awareness among students about the importance of career planning.
While certain weeks of the course, with general content, are conducted by the Student Dean's Office, specific weeks are tailored to the respective units and their students’ fields. The course content includes topics such as ESTÜ-Professionals Meeting, Guest Speakers, Industry Meetings, 21st Century Competencies, The Importance of Teamwork, Career Planning, CV (Portfolio) Preparation Techniques, Networking, Social Networks for Professional Life, Entrepreneurship, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Leadership, Interview Simulation, and Job Search Strategies.
Success in the course is determined by participation in weekly activities, CV preparation, and the interview simulation results.
The course, first offered in the 2019-2020 academic year, continues to be conducted in coordination with the Student Dean's Office and other units.
